Connect your WordPress blog with an application password and keep its post URLs.

Create an application password

In Connections, choose WordPress and the address on your website.

  1. Sign in to your WordPress admin area.
  2. Open Users, then your profile.
  3. Find Application Passwords.
  4. Name the application, for example RankYourApp, and click Add New Application Password.
  5. Copy the password into RankYourApp's Application password field.

Use the application password, rather than your ordinary WordPress login password. You can revoke it in WordPress.

Enter the connection details

Enter Your site address, Blog index address, WordPress username and Application password, then connect. The blog index is your existing Posts page, including the homepage if it displays posts there. Keep your existing permalink settings: RankYourApp uses WordPress's native post URLs.

For a new blog, create a Posts page in WordPress and choose its address there. For an existing one, also complete New or existing blog.

Read existing posts

Connections offers Read existing posts for native CMS connections. This reads an inventory for topic deduplication and internal links; the content stays in WordPress. If the button says Read next 100 existing posts, continue until the inventory is complete. A large inventory can need more than one page.

Article appearance and search metadata

RankYourApp sends the post title, article body and summary to WordPress. The body includes the summary, enabled cover image and any FAQ. Your WordPress theme controls the surrounding layout and listing.

Your theme or SEO plugin controls the page's search title, description and structured data. This connection does not write custom SEO-plugin fields. Inspect a published post on your website to check its appearance and search metadata.

If the connection needs attention

Read the connection's explanation, check the site address and application credentials, then use Check again. If an article has a publication problem, open it from Review too. A saved connection is not proof that a particular article reached its public URL. Checks and delivery problems
